The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has killed hundreds of millions of Ash trees in North America since 2002 despite quarantine efforts by regulatory agencies. The EAB has officially been identified in New Jersey. Historically, this insect has proven that it intends to kill nearly 100% of our Ash tree; however, there are treatments that can protect your Ash against EAB death. Without treatments the Ash trees will be demolished by Emerald Ash Borer. We have EAB Treatment plans available. There are several options depending on the size, location and condition of the trees.
Beech Leaf Disease, first spotted approximately 10 years ago in Ohio, is now frequently being seen on the Beech Trees in our area. Beech leaf disease (BLD) can kill both native and ornamental beech tree species. Beech leaf disease is associated with a foliar nematode; litylenchus crenatae. The most noticeable symptom is the appearance of stripes on the leaves. Leaves may also appear distorted, puckered or curled. There is no cure but there are available treatments to help your Beech trees combat the nematodes. Contact a certified arborist for diagnosis and treatment options.
We can help manage the insect populations eating your shrubs. Common leaf chewing insects, such as Japanese Beetle and Black Vine Weevil, can have a devastating effect on the foliage. With fewer leaves, a shrub’s ability to photosynthesize is diminished. The damage causes an unsightly appearance, as well as a stressed plant, leaving it susceptible to other pests and diseases.
Leaf sucking insects, such as mites, aphids and lace bug, can cause stress to the host plant, making it more susceptible to disease and/or death. Reduce the insect populations with an insect treatment program and reduce the stress. Your shrubs will be healthier and look better!
Fungus can range from mushroom-like growths on the stem to black spots on the leaves. Generally, browning or yellowing leaves which droop or curl are an indication of a fungus problem. Either way, fungus is unsightly and stressing to the plant. To manage fungus problems, we offer preventative therapy treatments which will help the tree appear lush, green and healthy again.
Deer are causing extensive damage to home landscapes, gardens and farms. Deer resistant plants are no guarantee, since the high deer population in urban areas and harsh winters create a competitive environment. Your plants need to be protected. We use an all- organic product consisting of 100% food grade quality ingredients. This product has a pleasant “mint” smell to humans; however, it is disliked by the deer. Applied once a month, the deer will learn to dislike your plants and eventually direct them away from your property.
The Gypsy Moth is most commonly discussed during the spring and summer months, as it is the time of year people see the adult caterpillars on their property. Very high populations in a small area can defoliate a tree in a matter of days. You should schedule a preventative treatment to all host trees (typically hardwoods such as Maple, Oak, Apple, Poplar, Birch, and Willow) to be applied in May when the larvae first emerge from the eggs. Your valuable trees will look and feel better.
Both the beetles and the larvae seriously injure plants. The adult beetle seems to prefer the rose, but will also feed on woody ornamentals such as crape myrtle, flowering cherry, flowering crabapple, Japanese maple, linden, and gray birch. Topical sprays and soil injections can help to protect your plants.
Ticks live in the shrubs beds and wooded borders around your home. The area under shrubs is prime “Tick Territory” because of small animals (mice, moles chipmunks, squirrels and birds) that frequent the area. Many illnesses and diseases, such as Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever to name a few, can be transferred from ticks to humans and pets. Our tick treatment programs help control the tick populations on your property; therefore, helping to protect you, your family and pets.
Mosquitoes are considered one of the most dangerous creatures on the planet because of their ability to spread deadly diseases. Mosquito are vectors of diseases and viruses including West Nile Virus, malaria, dog heartworm, dengue, encephalitis and yellow fever. Helping to control the mosquito population helps to limit exposure to Mosquito borne disease. We apply suppression treatments throughout the summer months.

The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (Halyomorphs halys) was first identified in the United States in 1996 in Allentown, PA. Accidentally introduced in freight from Asia, the stink bug steadily spread, establishing itself as a nuisance to homeowners and a risk to agriculture in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The adult Stink bug survives the winter by entering your home. They enter through cracks in windows and foundations, through vents and soffits, as well as under doors.
